Here is the class outline:
1. Week1 : Methodological bases of Personality TheoriesIn this week’s session we will introduce the fundamental concepts, considerations, and approaches to the scientific study of people. We will further focus our discussion on an overview of the different methodological approaches employed in the study of personality. 2 sections

2. Week 2 - The Psychoanalytic ApproachThis week we will begin our discussion of the earliest approach to the formal study of personality – psychoanalysis, the creation of Sigmund Freud. Almost every personality theory developed after Freud owes debt to his initial theory. The students will learn about the basic principles of the psychodynamic approach, the concepts of the levels of consciousness, the id, ego, and superego, as well as the implications for growth and development. 1 section

3. Week 3 - The Neo-Psychoanalytic ApproachesIn these two weeks we will discuss some of the psychological paradigms that were inspired by, or developed as a response to, Freud’s psychodynamic approach. We will discuss the approaches of Adler and Jung, and their implications for the study and understanding of personality. 1 section

Week 4 - The Neo-Psychoanalytic Approaches IIIn these two weeks we will discuss some of the psychological paradigms that were inspired by, or developed as a response to, Freud’s psychodynamic approach. We will discuss the approaches of Adler and Jung, and their implications for the study and understanding of personality. 1 section

6. Week 6 - The Life-Span ApproachIn this week’s sessions we will about the life-span approach to understanding personality, represented by the work of Erik Erikson. We will learn his theory which attempts to explain human behaviour and growth through eight stages, from birth to death. 1 section

7. Week 7 - The Genetics ApproachIn these two weeks we will learn about the trait approach to personality and why it has been popular for so long. Starting with Gordon Allport, with whom the trait approach began, we will learn about motivation and personality. In the second part, we will continue with Raymond Cattell and Hans Eysenck, exploring the Five-Factor Theory, HEXACO, and the Dark Triad. 1 section

We will discuss the concept of phenomenology, Roger’s Theory of Personality and self-concept, as well as Maslow’s theory of the hierarchy of need and self-actualization. 1 section

11. Week 11 - The Cognitive ApproachIn this week’s session we will begin our discussion of the cognitive approaches to the study of, and theorizing about, personality. We will focus our discussion on the Personal Construct Theory of Kelly and Beck’s cognitive approach to personality. 1 section

12. Week 12 - The Behavioral ApproachThis week we will move into a discussion of learning-based approaches to the study of personality. We will discuss Pavlov’s classical conditioning approach, as well as the Behavioral approaches of Watson and Skinner, and their implications for the study and understanding of personality. 1 section

13. Week13 - The Social-Learning ApproachThis week we will move from the pure behavioural approaches into socio-cognitive approaches to understanding personality. We will discuss the Dollard and Miller’s stimulus-response model, as well as the well-known Bandura’s Social Learning Theory 1 section
