Week 1 - Introduction to the module

This session will introduce you to the module organization, structure and assignments. You will become aware of the time commitments you will need to make and the skills you will develop through the duration of the module. An introduction to the history of marketing and advertising will also be covered this week.

Week 2 - Segmenting, Targeting, and Positioning

The first readings for week 2 will introduce you to the concepts of marketing segmentation, targeting and positioning. If marketers can nail their target and position, all other aspects of a marketing campaign will fall into place. Target and position define who we are trying to reach with our marketing campaign, and what message (or position) we will use to connect. The concepts of targeting and positioning are so critical to marketing success that we now dedicate an entire unit to them. You must be an active participant in the module’s weekly seminar sessions, where you will share your thoughts and discuss with your peers. Active participation on the seminar is mandatory.

Week 3 - Marketing Information System

This week will cover Marketing Information System. It is all about the customer. But who is the customer? If you are a car manufacturer, you have multiple types of customers. You might have governments and rental agencies that wish to buy fleet vehicles. You will read the compulsory reading and attend the lecture. Week 4 – Introduction to Consumer Behaviour
